Bob Richardson, a longtime member of the Mid-Carolina Daylily Society in Columbia, SC, passed away on Thursday, January 22. He will be sorely missed. It was my honor as Bob's friend to build this website for him.
I'll leave this notice up on the website for the remainder of February so that his customers will see it and any that might want to sign the registry at www.burgessfunerals.com will have the opportunity to do so.

LANCASTER, SC – "Mr. John Robert “Bobby” Richardson, age 83, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1942, a son of the late John Robert Richardson, Sr. and the late Lottie Flemming Richardson, and was the beloved husband of the late Brenda Elaine Steele Richardson.
"Mr. Bobby was a man of many talents, deep faith, and wide-ranging interests. He had a special love for daylilies and was a proud member of the Mid Carolina Daylily Society. Earlier in his life, he worked as a florist, a profession that reflected his appreciation for beauty, nature, and creativity. A true jack of all trades, Mr. Bobby also enjoyed woodworking and had a natural ability to work skillfully with his hands.
"Music brought him great joy. He loved to sing and play the organ, sharing his passion for music with those around him. Mr. Bobby valued a healthy and active lifestyle, enjoying regular exercise, and he had a strong love for travel. Over the years, he traveled all over the world, embracing new cultures and experiences.
"Faith was an important part of Mr. Bobby’s life. He deeply loved going to church and was a devoted member of Central Church of God in Charlotte, North Carolina. Known for his talents, curiosity, and kind spirit, Mr. Bobby leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will be remembered by all who knew him.
"Mr. Bobby is survived by his two sons, Brian Richardson (Cindy), and Brent Richardson (Bonnie); his bonus son, Jairo Negrão; his four grandchildren, Hunter Albright, Emilie Albright, Grant Albright, and Taylor Haile; his two great-grandchildren, Hensley Haile, and Harlan Haile; and many special family members and friends.
"He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Richardson; his parents, John and Lottie Richardson; and his three siblings, Sylvia Goforth, Bill Richardson, and Pat Richardson.
"The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Bobby will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Luke Methodist Church cemetery.
"The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home.
"In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to, Central Church of God of Charlotte, 5301 Sardis Rd Charlotte, NC 28270 or to Mid Carolina Daylily Society, 645 Barr Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.
